The truth set him free—it also cast him out

He was the Lightbringer. Heaven's chief scholar. The Morningstar. The most beloved angel in Elysium, and the one who never once questioned an order.

Then the Divine Choir sends Lucifer and his brother Michael to a tiny blue world to study a species of upright mammals that have only just begun to appear. They're little more than animals. But the moment Lucifer sees them, he feels it: a spark of the divine. One the Choir has no intention of explaining.

Lucifer begins asking questions he was never meant to ask. Who is the mysterious ferryman who guides him across the Styx? What is the forbidden realm that shouldn't exist? And who is the lost angel waiting in its depths, the one with the truth about the Presence that the Choir has kept buried since the dawn of creation?

What Lucifer learns will shatter everything he believes. Now he must decide what to do with it. Share the secret with the woman he loves? Confide in the brother he'd never betray? Or trust a strange mage on the fringes of Heaven who seems to know more than he lets on?

Whatever he chooses, that choice will determine whether he lights the world or burns it down.

Long before the war that tore Heaven apart, before the crown of Hell, before the name that would be cursed for millennia, there was an angel with a question. This is how a good angel fell.

Discover the secret origins of the Devil, the dawn of humanity, and the first crack in the walls of Heaven.

The Devil quit, but no one got the memo

Lucifer is retired. After millennia of ruling Hell and brooding in his tower, the Morningstar has finally found something he never had—freedom. He has a mansion on the shore of Lake Michigan, a bodyguard who hates everyone, and a calendar with absolutely nothing on it. He plans to spend eternity reading, drinking, and enjoying every pleasure he denied himself for thousands of years.

Too bad the universe has other plans.

A killer is stalking Chicago's churches, leaving priests beheaded with coins on their eyes. Heaven believes the Devil's abdication has let something loose that was never supposed to walk free, and it sends the one angel he can't easily refuse to bring him home. Anael was once the love of his life. She was also the one who betrayed him.

Lucifer wants nothing to do with it. The Court and the Choir can sort it out without him. Then he crosses paths with a burned-out detective, bodies deep in a case no mortal can solve, and a killer who's been leaving messages meant for the Devil himself.

Wayne Cooper is a veteran cop who knows what's really out there. Janice Wagner is his partner, and she's starting to ask questions. Belial is a demon with a taste for torture and no patience for humans. And Lucifer is a bored immortal with a bad attitude who has no interest in being a hero.

Now he has to decide whether freedom means walking away or standing his ground.

Lucifer Rising is the first of a new series in the Dark Crossroads urban fantasy universe, a spin-off of the Luther Cross novels.

He was fearless, then he became powerless

Lucifer may have left the throne, but his retirement has a flaw: a prison called Cocytus. When the Morningstar walked away from Hell, the cells holding the worst of the damned began to weaken. Astaroth was only the first to escape. Now Lucifer has to find the rest before Heaven learns what he's done and decides the armistice has been broken.

When a man in a New Orleans suburb is torn apart by his former business partner, a man who died a year ago, Lucifer and his bodyguard, Belial, follow the trail to Metairie, where a necromancer is raising an army of the dead. It's the work of someone powerful. And someone with a very personal grudge against the Devil.

But Lucifer has a bigger problem. His powers are gone. No wings, no hellfire, no immortality. For the first time in his existence, the Morningstar is as vulnerable as the humans he's spent his retirement getting to know. He's down to a clever mind, a loyal demon, and a pair of government agents who don't trust him and have very good reasons.

Isaiah Reeves and Samara Tillman work for OSIRIS, an agency that hunts the supernatural. Now they're about to team up with the Devil himself, and Samara knows a bit of magic that could help. If the price isn't too high.

The enemy commands the dead, and he knows exactly how weak Lucifer has become.

To survive, the Devil will have to rely on people he never trusted, make a bargain with a power he doesn't control, and face the one thing he swore he'd never do again. Return to Hell.

Home is where the war is

Lucifer wanted to retire. Instead, he's been stripped of his powers, hunted by assassins from Heaven, and left with a single option he's spent centuries avoiding.

Without his powers, the Morningstar is an easy target. When two would-be killers break into his Chicago home, Lucifer realizes there's only one way to stop the attacks, and it isn't hiding in his mansion. If his abilities can only be restored in Hell, then Hell is where he has to go.

But the Hell he left behind isn't the one he remembers. Someone else sits on the throne. The prisoners who escaped Cocytus have scattered across the realms, gathering followers and spreading dangerous ideas. And one of them, an anarchist named Raum, has been building an army of the forgotten, the exiled, and the angry, with the Devil himself as the target of their rage.

With only Mara at his side, a loyal demon in the service of Lilith, Lucifer faces a long and dangerous trek across the Badlands, where nothing is friendly and everything is hungry. Along the way, he'll encounter manticores, old allies, older enemies, and the Lord of the Flies. But the greatest threat he'll find isn't a monster. It's a secret he's kept for eons, the one truth that could bring Hell down, and Heaven with it.

Raum knows. And he intends to share it with every soul in Hell.

To save a kingdom he abandoned, the Morningstar will have to confront everything he's tried to bury: the rebellion, the lies, and the man he was before he fell.

The Devil on trial

Lucifer has been accused of his greatest sin: keeping the Divine Choir's secret. And he's demanded a trial in Hell to answer for it.

There's only one problem. No one in Hell knows how a trial works. There's no law, no precedent, and a judge who treats the whole thing as a show. The jury is made up of demons who once worshipped the Morningstar and now feel betrayed. The prosecutor is a demon with more reason than anyone to hate him, and has been waiting a very long time for this day.

With Belial and Mara in his corner and two silent agents of Purgatory watching his every move, Lucifer turns to the one person who might still believe in him—Anael. The angel he once loved, who has been punished by Heaven for it. Now she stands in a courtroom full of demons, her loyalty to the Choir tested, and her faith in everything she's been taught beginning to crack.

But Lucifer isn't the only one with something to lose. Others are working in the shadows, and someone is plotting to bring down the Court from within. When Belial is framed for murder, the line between justice and conspiracy begins to blur, and Anael has to decide how far she'll go to save a man she swore she was finished with.

If the Morningstar is found guilty, Hell will have its revenge. And Heaven is waiting to claim whatever's left. If both sides are working together to destroy him, then perhaps he was right about them all along.

The trial is only the beginning.

Can the Devil rewrite the past?

Lucifer was found guilty by the court of Hell. Then he escaped. Now the Morningstar and the angel who fell for him are the most wanted fugitives in two kingdoms. Heaven and Hell have never been in such perfect agreement.

But Lucifer has a plan. It's insane, and likely impossible. But it's the only one he has left.

Somewhere between Heaven and Hell, hidden in dreams, buried in the courts of the fae, and locked away in Purgatory, are the three missing pages of a spell that can bend time. With them, Lucifer believes he can go back to the moment it all began and stop the war before it starts. No rebellion. No Fall. No bloodshed.

To get the pages, he and Anael will have to cross the Dreamscape and bargain with its master, risk the wrath of a fae queen who has no love for angels or demons, and walk into the realm of Purgatory. Their allies are a sorcerer who sells his help to the highest bidder and a nightclub owner who owes the Devil a favor. Everyone else will try to stop them.

Meanwhile, Lucifer's enemies have turned his most-trusted agent against him. Belial has been tortured, broken, and sent to hunt them down for the other side.

But history has a way of fighting back. If it can be rewritten, there's no telling what it will cost. And if it can't, the Devil will have burned every bridge he has left for nothing.

One last spell. One last chance to undo everything he's ever done. And one last question for the Morningstar: if he could change it all, would he?
